Welcome to Deltona Fire Explorer Post 460
Explorer Post 460 is a Learning For Life program sponsored by the City of Deltona Fire Department and chartered through the Boy Scouts of America. The Post operates out of Station 62 at 320 Diamond St. in the south west area of the city. We meet every Tuesday night from 18:30 till 21:30. There are currently 18 members ranging in age from 15 to 20. Post 460 has been in existance since February of 2002.
The City of Deltona Fire Department is proud to sponsor Explorer Post 460, which has been recognized by the City of Deltona for its youth achievments and career educational program. The Fire Department offers students from the Deltona and Southwest Volusia areas the opportunity to interact, first hand, with fire department personnel, experiencing the various aspects of what it is like to become and work as a firefighter. The Post members who meet training and maintain educational levels qualify for the ride-along program and then are allowed to work and train alongside the firefighters.
The Deltona Fire Explorer Post members are taught CPR, 1st Responders, Firefighter 1, the Incident Command System, ICS 100 & 700, Terrorism/WMD Awareness, HAZMAT Awareness, and other courses designed to assist them to become responsible, caring and working members of the community. The members also have the opportunity to become members of the Posts' Honor Guard Drill, Firematics, Emergency Medical Services competition Teams.
